A command that breaks a compound object into it component objects. Do this when you want to modify its components separately.
The command manages layers and layer properties. Use layers to control the visibility of objects and to assign properties such as color and linetype.
Based on the origin which is the intersection of the X, Y, and Z axes. Use when you know the precise X,Y, and Z values of a point from the origin.
dynamically modifies objects by extrusion and offset.
A command in autocad that allows you to create a connected sequence of line segments created as a single object.
Restricts cursor movements to specified angles.
A command that enlarges or reduces selected objects but keeps the proportions of the object the same.
A command that creates a new object by subtracting one overlapping region or 3D solid from another.
Evenly distributes the object copies in a circular pattern around a center point or axis of rotation.
When turned on it restricts cursor movement to specified grid intervals, or tracks the cursor to increments along polar alignment paths.
A command that creates a smooth curve that passes through or near a set of fit points, or that is defined by the vertices in a control frame.
A command that increases or decreases the magnification of the view in the current viewport.
User Coordinate System
Sets a drawing to a newly determined zero-point so you can use that point as the new origin for a specific coordinate system.
Object Snap Mode
When turned on it allows your cursor to snap to a precise location on your drawing depending what modes are turned on. Modes include endpoint, midpoint, center, etc.
A collection on objects that has a name. A block lets you insert an object again and again. You can also insert them into other drawings.
An angled line that meets the endpoints of two straight 2D objects or a sloped transition between two surfaces or adjacent faces on a 3D solid.
Temporary lines that are used as references when creating and positioning other objects. They extend to infinity.
Combines X,Y, and Z values from different points to specify a single point.
Displays a command interface near the cursor. You can use to enter commands and specific options and values.
A command that creates copies of objects arranged in a pattern.
A command that allows you to copy certain objects (lines, circles, etc.) and place a copy at a specific distance from the original.
A limitless 3D drawing area where you draw at in Autocad.
Cursor movement is contained to the horizontal or vertical direction relative to the coordinate system.
Shifts the view without changing the viewing direction or magnification.
The point or place where the something begins, arises, or is derived from. In auto cad it is defined as the (0,0,0) point and where the axes all intersect.
Creates a line that connects annotation to a feature.
A visual property assigned to geometric objects. Can be a pattern of dashes, dots, text, and symbols, etc.
A command in auto cad that allows you to mirror objects that represent half a drawing over a specified line to create the other half.
Used to control the size and scale at which the text is displaced in model space or paper space.
A property assigned to graphical objects / lines that results in thicker darker lines.
A 2-dimensional paper showing model
Where you prepare your drawing for printing. Where you also select the scale for your drawing. Where you have your title block.
Command that rotates selected objects around a base point to an absolute angle.
Use when you know the location of a point in reference to the previous point entered.
Clockwise angle typically from the North Meridian.
Designates the direction of a line by an angle and quadrant letters. Never greater than 90 degrees.
A command that converted objects that enclose an area into a 2D region object.
Fills an enclosed area or selected objects with a hatch pattern, solid fill, or gradient fill.
Round and fillets the edges of objects. The extent of the roundness depends on the radius entered.
Creates a 3D solid from an object that encloses an area, or a 3D surface from an object with open ends.
A rectangular area or hole in the paper through which you view your model. Each viewport has a different view of the model within it.
World Coordinate System
Based on the cartesian coordinate system. Used by default in autocad. Uses the (0,0,0) origin.
