Okonkwo was a very important and very powerful figure to the clan. He did many things that other people in the clan were not able to do before him. For example, when he beat Cat in a wrestling match. This showed the people how athletic he was. He was a very hard worker and he tried as hard as he could to be better than his father.
Describe Okonkwo's father.
Okonkwo's father was a very lazy man. He would only find enjoyment in playing his flute and wouldn't get any serious jobs. He would borrow money from people and then when he'd run out, he'd ask for more money from another person, when in the end, he wouldn't have paid back the original person.

Okonkwo thinks that they are going to the market the next day to hear what the people have to say. He also believes that it is to talk about going to war with other clans.

A women went to a market in Mbaino and was killed while she was there. As a result of that, instead of going to war, they agreed to send a young man and a virgin over to Oknokwo's clan as compensation and peace offering.
Describe how Okonkwo runs his household and explain his reasons for acting this way.
Okonkwo runs his household in a very orderly and strict manner. Everyone in his household has to be doing something. No one is allowed to be lazy or else it'll remind him of his lazy disappointment of a father that he had.
Why do you think Okonkwo's oldest son is becoming a "sad-faced youth"?
I think he was becoming a "sad-faced youth" because his father was giving him such a hard time to be hardworking and diligent just like him, when he wanted to be lazy. Because his father is giving him such a hard time, he is losing his youthful years where you are supposed to have fun and be carefree.

Unoka consulted Agbala because he was having a bad season with crops. Agbala blamed this to his laziness and that when he wasn't lazy, his harvest would be good.

Oknokwo earns his first seed yams by working for Nwakibie. After a while, he asked Nwakibie if he could share with him a third of his crops.
What does Oknokwo learn about himself after his crop fails?
He learns that even though he might fail, he will always try again until he succeeds. He figures out that he has a high work ethic and can endure hardships like that.
