People who are native to a particular place.
Liberate
When a group of people or a country gains freedom from another group.
Colony
A group of people who live in one area, but are still part of another country.
Empire
When one country takes control of another country.
Epidemic
The spread of an infectious disease.
Fascism
Government in which the leader controls the military, the police, etc.
Interdependent
When countries rely on one another for goods, trade, resources, etc.
Guerilla
A type of fighter that attacks quickly and then retreats.
Inflation
Occurs when money loses its value and the price of goods/services increases.
Figurehead
A person who represents a country but has no real power in the government.
Peninsula
A body of land surrounded by water on 3 sides.
Embargo
A full restriction on trade with another country.
Globalization
The spreading of information and ideas between countries.
Parliamentary Government
Type of economic system in which the legislative and executive branches of government are fused together. Prime minister is the leader.
Revenue
Any money left for a company after all of the expenses have been paid.
Oligarchy
A type of political system in which only a few powerful people have the right to participate.
Liberate
To free one group of people from the control of another.
Quota
A limit on the amount of a good that one country can send to another.
Separatists
A group of people who would like to separate from the larger group or country.
Reform
Changes that are made in the way something is done, usually to benefit a group of people.
