When a formula contains more than one function, excel first evaluates the inner most function & then moves outward to evaluate the next function. The inner function acts as an argument value, for the outer function.

Once you select a function either from the function library or the Insert function dialog box, the function arguments dialog box opens listing all of the arguments associated with that function.

Fills the data into the extended range.
