The Process of adapting to a new culture. The process occurs through several stratagies
The members of a group are absorbed into a culture and lose characteristic of the first culture. The group is willing or forced to accept the surface and deep culture of the new culture and give up on the original culture.
Groups lacking desirable traits are include from society. These groups include poor, uneducated, undesirable color and language. These groups will stay on the margin of acceptance by society unless there is a social intervention.

English as Second Language

The input hypothesis is Krashen's attempt to explain how the learner acquires a second language. The input hypothesis is only concerned with "acquisition", not learning. Meyes Vs. Nebraska
In a major victory for language-minority parents and communities, the Supreme Court struck down the states' restrictive legislation, ruling, in essence, that whereas state governments can legislate the language used for instruction in schools, states may not pass laws that attempt to prevent communities from offering private language classes outside the regular school system. Meyes is an important case because it makes clear that the 14th amendment provides protection for language minorities
Castaneda Vs. Pickard
The Castaneda standard mandates that programs for language-minority students must be (1) based on a sound educational theory, (2) implemented effective with sufficient resources and personnel, and (3) evaluated to determine whether they are effective in helping student overcome language barriers.
