Poetry
A form of literature that is rhythmically composed and includes distinct style and word choice.
Tone
The attitude the poet or author has regarding the subject they're writing about.
Mood
The feeling or emotion the reader gets from reading a poem or piece of text.
Imagery
Descriptive and figurative language used to create mental images for the reader.
Line
A group of words in poetry that is purposefully kept together.
Stanza
A group of lines kept together in order to convey meaning, emotion, rhythm, rhyme, etc.
Refrain
Line, verse, or phrase that is repeated at intervals throughout a poem.
Rhythm
A musical quality produced by the repetition of stressed and unstressed syllables or sound patterns.
Rhyme
Repetition of similar sounding words occurring at the end of lines in poems or songs.
Repetition
The repeating of words, phrases, syllables, or sounds in a poem used for emphasis.
