What is a mission statement?
Breif explanation of the general intent of a health education program. It is composed so that memebers of the community can find out exactly why the health education program was created. Usually only one sentence long.

What are the characteristics of a plan for a health education program
1. Must be written down
2. Summary of program goals, and the objectives that will contribute to the achievement of goals.
3. Tasks required to meet each objective
4.Objectives must be measureable, so they can be evaluated
5. Summary of resources that will be required
6. Summary of the data tat will be used to measure progress towards objectives
Differentiate between MATCH and PRECEDE-PROCEED
MATCH emphasizes selecting the appropriate kind of intervention for a particlar community. It is popular when implementing the program for a large group of people
PRECEDE-PROCEED model runs from needs assessment to evaluation. This is used when implementing a long-term program for a specific population. It focuses on environment conducive to permanent positive behavior change.
What are the most important components of program planning?

3. Goals and objectives need to be realistic and in accord with needs assessment.
4. Comprehensive resource inventory
5. The intervention method of the program should take into account available resources, prevailing attitudes, potential for assistance from communtity members.
Explain the difference between planning a health education program and the program itself.
Planning: assessing the needs and resources of the community. Planning will include honest assessment of the limitations in a given situation including obstacles. The plan will include a list of all health professionals needed for implementation. Provisions should be made to train participants. Establish a system of record keeping to document the success of the program.
Program: Once the program is implemented, the focus of the health educator should be on evaluating its success. Success can only be defined as the extent it meets the objectives for which it was created.
Discuss how health education planning differs for different audiences; communities, schools, health care facilities, businesses, colleges and universities, and university health service facilities.
Community: actively engage target population
Health care facility: you can assume that the individuals already have a certain interest in your program
College: focus on preventative care and education, as students will be more inclinded to take an active role in the maintenance of good health.
Business: Employer is likely to ask you to target a specific portion of the population for a specific purpose.
Explain how strong health education programs use data and organization together to succeed.
From data, we need to determine specific achieveable/realistic goals . Sometimes you have to focus on some problems to the exclusion of others.
Define environmental objectives
Some change in the physical or social environment that will positively affect health.
Given an example of an environmental objective
If a health education program is concerned with promoting fitness, they might have an environmental objective might be to have more presence of playground equipment.
