What is water pollution?
Any physical, chemical or biological change to water that adversely effects its use by living things
Which physical changes can adversely affect the water quality?
Physical change include changes on temperature and oxygen concentration on Earth's water. Global warming can lead severe climate changes and water pollution by human activity can reduce the oxygen concentration in the water.
What about chemical changes can adversely affect the water quality?
Chemical changes occurs when Mercury due mining is dumped to the water, also occurs when industrial waste dump chemical waste in the water.
What about biological changes can adversely affect the water quality?
Dumping untreated sewage; bacteria form livestock and food processing can introduce chemical changes in the water.
How is the water polluted?
by agricultural activities, industrial waste, mining, human-made materials, untreated sewage and climate change due global warming.
Which kind of human-made materials may pollute the water?
Especially plastics, cans, bags and all sort of trash that human dump on the water.
Which are the effects of pollutants in the water?
Pollutants have harmful effects including contamination of the drinking water by infectious disease organisms.
Water pollution on oceans, what is the problem?
Pollutants that are dumped on the oceans originates on land and include oil, solid wastes and other toxic chemicals.
Which are the effects of the ocean pollution?
Endangered aquatic species and other wildlife and disrupting marine ecosystems.
How we can stop oceans pollution?
Reducing the flow of pollutants from land and streams to the oceans.
What does ways to purify water for drinking
In which way can we purify drinking water?
Reservoirs and purification plants;
processing sewer water to drinking water;
exposing clear plastic containers to sunlight;
with nano filters;
using the Lifestraw.
What is the Lifestraw?
Is a personal and portable water filter to be use on areas without clean water supply.
What is a nano filter?
Is a special water filter that deliver drinkable water.
What is water reservoir?
Is a large, man-made device used to collect and store drinking water.
What is water purification plant?
Is a man-made facility designed to process water. It used to deliver drinking water.
Can sewage be processed to obtain drinking water?
Yes, through sewage purification plants.
What can we do to reduce water pollution?
Fertilize gardens with organic fertilizer, not with commercial inorganic fertilizer.
Minimize pesticide use, especially near water bodies.
Prevent yard wastes from entering on storm drains.
Don't use water fresheners in toilets,
Don't flush unwanted medicines or chemicals down in the toilet.
Don't por paints, solvents, oils, antifreeze or other harmful chemicals down the drain or onto the ground.
Which are the ways to reduce surface water pollution?
reducing the amont of fertilizers;
use organic farming techniques;
use pesticides prudently;
tougher pollution regulations for livestock operations
deal better with animal waste
