Amniotic Fluid Index. (A measure of the amount of fluid around a baby. Normal is 10-20).
Advanced Maternal Age. Mother will be at least 35 years old by the delivery of her baby. High risk for pre-eclampsia, gestational diabetes, twins and c/s. At increased risk for a child with Down's syndrome.
Umbilical cord is slung across baby's chest from hip over shoulder. Associated with increased risk of severe variable decelerations during delivery.
Infection of the membranes and fluid in the amniotic sac.
Baby born with hand to face or head. May increase risk of vaginal/perineal tearing during delivery.
Direct Coomb's positive.
Baby's blood contains maternal antibodies against baby's blood proteins. Indicates an increased likelihood of jaundice.
Umbilical cord wrapped around the fetal neck. Associated with variable decelerations during delivery.
Induction of labor.
Intrauterine Growth Restriction. Baby falls below the 10th percentiile compared to others at the same estimated gestational age.
Estimated gestational age. The estimated week of pregnancy based on the first day of mother's last normal menstrual period.
