Greenwich Mean Time
Another name for Zulu time
Offset
An amount of time subtracted from or added to Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) time to get the current civil time
Phonetic Alphabet
The most widely used radiotelephonic spelling alphabet
Prime Meridian
The earth's zero of longitude, which by convention passes through Greenwich, England
Zulu Time
Used in the military and in navigation generally as a term for Universal Coordinated Time (UCT)
Above Ground Level
A height measured with respect to the underlying ground surface (AGL)

Areas of the sky classified by the FAA
Alert Area SAO
Depicted with an "A" followed by a number, which informs nonparticipating pilots of areas that could contain a high volume of pilot training or an unusual type of aerial activity
Class A Airspace
18,000 ft. MSL and above
Class B Airspace
Generally from the surface to 10,000 ft. MSL
Class C Airspace
Surface to 4,000 ft. above the airport elevation (MSL)
Class D Airspace
Generally from the surface to 2,500 ft. MSL above the airport elevation
Class E Airspace
Controlled airspace NOT classified as Class A, B, C, or D
Class G Airspace
Uncontrolled airspace; airspace that has not been designated as Class A, B, C, D, or E
Controlled Airspace
Airspace of defined dimensions within which ATC services are provided
Controlled Firing Area SAO
Activities must be suspended when a spotter aircraft, radar, or ground lookout position indicates an aircraft might be approaching the area
Mean Sea Level
The sea level halfway between the mean levels of high and low water (MSL)
Military Operation Area SAO
Airspace with defined vertical and lateral limits established for the purpose of separating certain military training activities from IFR traffic
Military Training Routes
Routes used by military aircraft to maintain proficiency in tactical flying
Notice to Airmen
Time-critical pieces of aeronautical information either temporary in nature or not sufficiently known in advance, which would permit some sort of publication (NOTAMs)
Prohibited SAO
Aircraft is strictly prohibited in these areas due to security or reasons associated with national welfare
Restricted SAO
Areas where operations are hazardous to nonparticipating aircraft and contain airspace within which the flight of aircraft is subject to restrictions
Special Area of Operation
The designation of airspace in which certain activities must be confined, or where limitations may imposed on aircraft operations that are not part of those activities
Uncontrolled Airspace
Airspace where an Air Traffic Control (ATC) service is not deemed necessary or cannot be provided for practical reasons
Warning SAO
Similar to Restricted areas, except the US government does not have sole jurisdiction
Isogonic Lines
Dashed purple lines which indicate lines of magnetic variation
Latitude
A measure of relative position north or south on the Earth's surface, measured in degrees from the equator, which has a latitude of 0°
Longitude
A measure of relative position east or west on the Earth's surface, measured in degrees from the Prime Meridian, which has a latitude of 0°
