arithmetic sequence

a sequence in which the difference between any 2 consecutive terms is the same

best-fit line

A line that is very close to most of the data points in a scatter plot.

boundary

a line that seperates the solutions from the points that are not solutions in the graph of an inequality.

common difference

the difference between any 2 consecutive terms in a sequence.

common ratio

the quotient between any 2 consecutive terms in a geometric sequence.

dependent variable

the variable for the output of a function.

domain

the set of input values in a function.

function

a relation in which each element of an input is paired with exactly one element of the output according to a specified rule.

function table

a table organizing the input, rule, and output of a function.

geometric sequence

a sequence in which the quotient between and 2 consecutive terms is the same (multiplying).

half plane

The region that contains the solutions in the graph of a linear inequality.

independent variable

the variable for the input of a function.

linear function

a function in which the graph of the solutions forms a line.

range

the set of output values in a function.

scatter plot

a graph that shows the relationship between two sets of data

sequence

an ordered list of numbers that such as 1,2,and 3.

slope formula

m = (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1)

slope-intercept form

y=mx+b

substitution

a method used for solving a system of equations that repleces 1 variable in 1 equation with an expression derived from the other equation.

system of equations

a set of 2 or more equations that are considered together.

term

a number in a sequence.

x-intercept

the value of x where the graph crosses the x-axis.

y-intercept

the value of y where the graph crosses the y-axis.
