Exposition
Introduces the characters, describes the setting and establishes the problem in the story
Rising Action
where the suspense builds and the problem gets worse and becomes more complicated. Can have many parts and steps
Climax
turning point in the story. usually the mosts exciting part in the story and the part that makes the reader want to keep reading
Falling Action
events that happen after the climax that lead to a resolution or ending to the story
Resolution
the outcome of the story. how things end up or turn out for the characters
Setting
where the story takes place
Conflict
involves a struggle between two opposing forces usually a protagonist and an antagonist
Plot
events that make up a story or the main part of a story
Protagonist
central character or leading figure in poetry, narrative, novel or any other story. A protagonist is sometimes called a "hero"
Antagonist
character or a group of characters which stand in opposition to the protagonist or the main character.
