World Wide Web
Also known as Web or WWW. An internet navigation system that allows for point and click navigation of the internet at large. The web is a spider-web-like interconnection of millions of web pages stored on servers around the world.
A program that runs the World Wide Web. A software
application which allows you to view and retrieve information from the
internet. Also known as an internet browser. (Chome, Firefox, Bing,....)
Uniform Resource Locator. Address of the web page.
Hypertext Markup Language. A programming language used for
writing web pages. The code that tells the browser what to do.
one page of a web site. It is a single HTML document
accessible via the WWW. A web page can be lined to other web pages
within the web site or anywhere on the WWW using links.
A set of pages on the web. The physical location of a web
page or set of linked web pages. The web sites are stored on web
servers around the world. A group of web pages located at one

button embedded on a web page which makes it possible for users to
jump from one piece of information to a related document or site by
clicking on it.

Hypertext Transfer Protocol. The system used by web servers to
transfer data to the internet browsers.
A secure version of HTTP (s stands for secure). All connections go through a valid certificate and are encrypted.
You are online when your computer is connected to the
internet. When you are using your computer but not connected to the
internet, you are offline. A printer is online when it is connected to the
computer and ready to receive information.
A collection of information that is organized and stored so it
can be easily searched.

File Transfer Protocol. The protocol used to transfer files between
computers on the internet.
Simple Mail Transfer Protocol- The protocol used to send emails
between computers on the internet.
Internet Protocol- Every computer on the internet has a unique
numerical IP address assigned to it, such as 123.456.78.9
