Conservatives tried to roll back the size and scope of the federal government but size of fed steadily increased. Instead conservatives have enacted programs and regulations that increased the impact of government on society.

A constitutional amendment to reduce property taxes passed by California voters; has come to symbolize tax revolts.
An economic philosophy that holds the sharply cutting taxes will increase the incentive people have to work, save, and invest. Greater investments will lead to more jobs, a more productive economy, and more tax revenues for the government.

Head of the Soviet Union from 1985 to 1991. His liberalization effort improved relations with the West, but he lost power after his reforms led to the collapse of Communist governments in Eastern Europe.

Yugoslavia was a country created after World War I and it contained several different ethnic and religious groups. The Soviet Union made it a satellite nation after World War II, making the groups get along. When the USSR collapsed in 1989, the rival groups began to fight as the country broke up into several countries (Serbia, Croatia, etc.). Serbs vs. Muslims
Persian Gulf War (Operation Desert Storm)
US leads international force to liberate Kuwait from Iraqi agression - but more to protect oil dependent economies
President of Iraq from 1979 to 2003. Waged war on Iran in 1980-1988. In 1990 he ordered an invasion of Kuwait but was defeated by United States and its allies in the Gulf War (1991). Defeated by US led invasion in 2003.
Bush's Domestic Policies
Bush at one point was like Reagan didn't want to raise taxes; worked out deal where they did raise taxes to gain revenue; not as fiscally or socially conservative as Reagan or his son; passed the ADA (American Disabilities Act), mandated more accommodations for the handicapped;
