Was a case that involved public transportation in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Homer Plessey, a black man, was removed from a section of a street car that was reserved for white riders.
He filed a lawsuit that went all the way to the US Supreme Court.
In 1896 the Supreme Court ruled that laws that restricted contact between the races were constitutional.

The two men beat him, tortured him, shot him and threw him in the Tallahatchie river
Till's body was found several days later
The two men, Roy Bryant and J.W. Milam were arrested and charged with murder
They were tried by an all male all white jury and were acquitted.
