Composition
The combining of functions by using the result of one function to evaluate a second function
Continuous function
A function that can be graphed with no breaks, holes , or gaps.
Dilation
shrink/expand graph vertically/horizontally
Domain
the "x" values possible on a graph, the input values of a function
End behavior
describes what happens to the value of f(x) as x increases or decreases without bound
Even function
Function that is symmetric with respect to the y-axis
Extrema
the highest/ lowest points in a graph. (absolute maximum/minimum, relative maximum/minimum)
Function
A relation that assigns to each element in the domain exactly one element in the range
Interval notation
an expression that uses inequalities to describe subsets of real numbers
Inverse function
two functions f and f^-1 are inverse functions if and only if f[f^-1(x)] = x for every x in the domain of f^-1(x), and f[f^-1(x)] = x for every x in the domain of f(x)
Limit
concept of approaching a value without ever reaching it
Maximum
the highest point the most value of f(x) on a function
Minimum
the least value of f(x) on a function
Odd function
symmetric to x-axis
Parent function
Are the simplest function in the family of function. A function that is transformed to create other members n a family of functions
Range
values possible on a graph, the output values out of a function
Reflection
a transformation in which a mirror image of the graph of a function is produced with respect to a specific line
Relation
(x.y)
Secant line
the line through two points on a curve
Zeros
the x-intercepts of the graph of a function
