In plants water is used for:
photosynthesis, turgor pressure, hydrolysis, transport
movement in the direction of the stimulus
a polysaccharide efficient for storing
a good balance of gravel, sand, silt, and clay
cohesion-tension theory
the theory that explains how water travels up in a plant
Hormones in plants (6 of them)
auxins, gibberellins, cytokinins, abscisic acid, ethylene, florigen (not fully discovered)
extreme form of phototropism (i.e. unusually long stems and light coloring)
