used to speed up blocking-to-forwarding transition on a uplink
The uplink group includes ports in
blocking and forwarding mode.
If the forwarding port in the uplink group senses that the primary link is down
another port in the uplink group will be transitioned immediately (almost) from blocking to forwarding.
Uplink fast not be used on
distribution- and core-layer switches.
Uplink fast is enabled globally and
for all VLANs residing on the switch.
