Good Morning Miss Dove (ch. 1)
Miss Dove taught at Cedar Grove elementary school. It was in the town of Liberty Hill. Thomas Baker, a WWII soldier, was an old student of Miss Dove. He sent her a letter which his brother, Randy Baker, read. Once he read the letter, Jincey, a girl classmate, said "It's like he pinned a medal on Miss Dove." This line made Miss Dove cry.
Education, Our Own Work (ch. 1)

A school of facts (ch. 1)
Thomas Gradgrind was a smart, stubborn, and factual teacher. He harrassed a student, who he called student number 20. Student number 20 was Sissy Jupe. She was more imaginative than factual. Her father did horse-riding stuff at the circus.
The Garden Party (ch. 1)
Laura was the main-character. She was part of a rich family who was to host a garden party. Then she found out her neigbor died and wanted to top the party. Her family did not understand why she would do that. The book says that Laura saw the guy who died looked happy even though he was poor and had nothing.
How They Brought the Good News from ghent to Aix. (ch. 2)
Roland, the horse, was the only one who survived and delivered the message.
The Ballad of the Harp-Weaver (ch. 2)
There was a mom and her little son. They were both poor. The boy had no clothes for the winter. His mom played her harp all nigth and was magically able to weave clothes for her son that way. She died though.
The Highwayman (ch. 2)
There was a highwayman who fell in love with an inkeeper's daughter. Before he left, he said "look for me by the moonlight." A jealous guy heard their conversation and planned a trap for the highwayman. The soldiers he hired tied the daughter up and put a gun to her chest. The daughter pulled the trigger on herself in order to warn the highwayman. The highwayman ran away after he heard that. Though once he found out the truth, he came back for revenge but he got shot and died.
The Death of the Hired Man (ch. 2)
There was a hired worker named silas. He worked on a farm for Mary and Warren, the owners. He came back to die at the farm, his "home." In this story, the definition of home is a place where one is accpeted and loved.
The Deacon's Masterpiece or the Wondeful "One Hoss Shay." A logical story. (ch. 2)
there was a deacon who didn't like how different pieces of a shay would eventually break. To fix that, he built a perfect shay of the same material so that the shay would stop breaking. One-hundred years later, the entire shay broke down.
The Tell-Tale Heart
The caretaker of some old man hated his master's weird eye. He didn't hate the old man, just his eye. At midnight the caretaker goes to kill the old man. He succeeds and hides the body under a plank in the room. Later some police guys come to check on the house. They go chat with the caretaker in the room where the body was hidden. The caretaker felt paranoid and thought he felt the heartbeat of the old man. In the end, he gave himself up.
There was a guy who lived alone because his wife died. Then a raven comes and bothers the guy by repeating the word "Nevermore." The guy has many mixed feeling such as being angry and depressed.
The Red-Headed Leaugue
characters were: Sherlock Holmes, Watson, Mr. Wilson, and John Clay. Mr. Wilson went to Sherlock Holmes and Watson for help. He wanted to know what happenned to his high paying job. His job, as a redhead, was to write out the dictionary for a couple hours a day. Sherlock Holmes found out that while Mr. Wilson was doing this, John Clay, a dangerous criminal masquerading as Mr. Wilson's assistant, was digging a tunnel under Mr. Wilson's house in order to steal from a bank. In the end, Holmes catches John Clay and takes him to jail.
The Inspiration of Mr. Budd
The wanted man in this story was William Stickland. Mr Budd was a main character. He was a hair cutter or a barber. He found out that one of his costumer is a criminal. and he dies the criminals hair william strickland so that in glows green in the dark.
The Skater of Ghost Lake
There was this couple who were skating. Then they heard something, but the guy thought that it was nothing. Then they skated farther and farther away. Then the ice broke because it was too thin and they fell in and they died.
a guy who made a promise to his friend visited his house, but no one was home so he told the ghost to tell the owner that he came
The Dead Hand
this french officer named Captain Gautier d'armentieres was telign his buddies how he almost died. So he was being choked by some type of ghost which was only a hand. And he found out That he was choking himself and that he couldnt feel it because his hand was numb
There was a boy and his father riding. Then the boy sees the Erl-King. Then the boy tells the father about it and the father doesnt see it and the boy dies in the fathers arms.
Leiningon versus the Ants
There was a guy named Leiningon. He owned a farm, but it would soon be attacked by an army of deadly ants. He and same ants his mend used oil to wash off ants from people and business the oil to kill. So he opened the valve and barely survived.
The poet ryhmes about the senses of smell. smell of ship the He likes the most.
Meeting at night
this guy tried to scared another guy to get off the island, but one night the guy getting scared went to the ocean to get away but found out that the other guy was just trying to scare him.

This is about a man who was climbing a mountain and he went up with this word excelsior. He went so high that he died on the mountain
The Great Stone Face
This is a story about a boy who was told that the mountain has a face of a man and there will be a chosen one who shall look exactly like it. Three men came Gathergold, Old Blood-and-Thunder, and Old Stony Phiz, but all of them did not look exactly like the mountain. The person who looked exactly like the mountain was the little boy who was now grown up.
This is a poem about if you work hard, and if you keep at it you will get success. But if you work hard and you dont get recognized for your works, God is watching you and he will bless you for it

This is about a shoemaker who was very poor because his customers went away. He got a order for fifty pairs of shoes, so he stayed up all night working very hard to finish the order, and when the customer came to pick up his order the shoe maker was dead.

This is a story of a father who was very good with his hands. The Father could not read because he had a poor education. He also had a heart condition. He had to take pills to keep his heart normal. So when he got his resupply of pills and he went to take it he couldnt open it and he died on his farm. The doctors were now giving out new child-proof lids and it said, "Push Down and Twist to Unlock." THe pills were Nitroglycerin pills.
