Maryland attempts to tax a bank and the bank teller, McCulloch, brings the issue to court. This case brings up the question over whether the states can tax the federal government. It is ruled that they cannot, thus further backing the Necessary and Proper Clause.
The Adams-Onis Treaty of 1819
This treaty gives Florida to America to pay off Spanish debts. It also establishes a border between the Louisiana Territory and the Spanish territory.
