Task 1: Wonderful World of Water
The appearance, features, or characteristics of substance--such as density, color, or hardness (does not involve a chemical change)
An atom is the smallest particle in which an element can be divided, and still have the properties of that element.
A solid whose atoms, ions, or molecules are arranged in a unique, repeating pattern.
The force that acts on the surface of a liquid and that tends to minimize the area of the surface. This causes a liquid surface to act as if it were a stretched elastic membrane.
With molecules, it is the property where one end of the molecule is negative (more electrons) and the other end is positive (less electrons).
To break up and mix with a liquid to form a solution.
The ability of one substance to dissolve in another at a given temperature and pressure.
The ratio of the mass of a substance to the volume of the substance. The molecules of more-dense substances are packed closer together, and molecules of less-dense substances are more spread apart.
With molecules, having a positive charge (less electrons). Positive and negative charges attract each other.
With molecules, having a negative charge (more electrons). Positive and negative charges attract each other.
The force that holds molecules of a one material together.
(side note: adhesion holds molecules of two DIFFERENT materials together).
