Format of a Sonata

Sonata Form
Opening fast movement of a classical symphony, sonata, or string quartet
Theme and Variations
Used either as an independent piece or as one movement of a symphony, sonata, or string quartet; it is when the theme is repeated over and over and is changed each time
Minuet and Trio

Joseph Haydn
Born in Austrian village called Rohrau, served as choirboy in the Cathedral of St. Stephen but later put on the street when his voice changed; eventually served as composer for Esterhazys family; went to England after prince dies and gets an hononary degree from Oxford and becomes a celebrity; died in 1809; called "Papa" because he was such a nice person and he is known as father of the symphony and string quartet

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Recapitulation
It brings resolution, we again hear the first theme, bridge, second theme, and concluding materials
