Define, in depth, adjectives, articles, and adverbs and how they are used.
Adjective is a word used to modify or describe a noun or pronoun. Adjective answers questions like which one, what kind, how many? Articles are classed as adjectives, are used to mark nouns and are only three: the definite article the and the indefinite articles a and an. Negators are not and never are classified as adverbs.
Define, in depth, verbs and how they are used.
A verb of a sentence usually expresses action or being. They are composed of a main verb and sometimes supporting verbs.
Supporting Verbs
Helping verbs are form of have, do, and be, and nine modals.
Modals
Modals are can, could, may, might, shall, should, will would, and ought.
Preposition
a word placed before a noun or pronoun to form a phrase modifying another word in the sentence.
Conjunctions
they join words, phrases, or clauses, and they indicate the relationship between the elements that are joined. Common conjunctive adverbs include then, thus, and however.
What is present tense?
Present tense, verbs agree with their subjects in number, (singular or plural) and in person (first, second, or third).
What are the common grammatical mistakes that can occur in regard to subject-verb agreement?
Subject and verbs must agree in number. Singular subjects require singular verbs, while plural subjects require plural verbs.
Rules of subject-verb agreement
It states that singular subjects need singular verb forms, while plural subjects need plural verb forms.
Define the subject of a sentence, and explain how to identify it.
The subject of a sentence names who or what the sentence is about. The complete subject is composed of the simple subject and all of its modifiers. To find the complete subject, ask who? or what?
Describe the functions of pronouns, as well as personal pronouns, interrogative pronouns, and relative pronouns.
A personal pronoun refers to a person or thing. A personal pronoun can be a subject, an object, or a possessive.
