Terms in this set (18)
Basic unit of life (Every cell has to have ribosomes, cell membrane, cytoplasm, and DNA).
Cell that does not have a nucleus.
Cell that contains a nucleus and other cell organelles.
Are structures within cells (cell parts).
Jelly-like fluid that keeps the organelles in place.
Controls the cell; holds genetic information (DNA).
Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum
Makes lipids for the cell (has no ribosomes for the surface).
Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum
Modifies proteins that the ribosomes made and packages them in a vesicle, makes more RER membrane and cell membrane, and chemical reactions happen here (has ribosomes on its surface).
Golgi Apparatus (body, complex)
Modifies protein that was received from the RER and will send them off in a transport vesicle (HINT --> Post Office).
Clean up cell debris (garbage); digests carbohydrates, lipids, and proteins.
Power house of the cell that makes energy.
Helps the cell divide.
Provides support/protection for the cell; helps maintain cell shape.
Found in Plant cells; provides protection/support found outside of the cell membrane.
Found in plant cells; Needed for photosynthesis to make sugar and also makes the plant green because it contains chlorophyll (pigment).
