Somatic Symptom Disorder
-Physical symptoms suggest a physical disorder for which there is no physiological basis
-Strong presumption that symptoms linked to psychobiological factors

Factitious Disorders DSM V Criteria
-Falsification of signs and symptoms, induction of injury or disease, associated with deception
-Presents him or herself as ill, impaired, or injured
-Deceptive behavior is evident in the absence of obvious external rewards
-The behavior is not better explained by another mental disorder
Factitious Disorder Imposed on Another
-Falsification of signs and symptoms, induction, of injury or disease, associated with deception
-The individual presents another individual to others as ill, impaired, or injured
-Deceptive behavior is evident even in the absence of obvious rewards
-The behavior not better explained by another mental disorder
Acute Stress Disorder
-Develops after exposure to a highly traumatic event
-Has to occur within the 1st month after a highly traumatic event
-A detached or dissociative presentation is predominate
-Criteria is similar to PTSD
Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
-Persistent re-experiencing of a highly traumatic event that involves:
-Threatened death
-Serious injury
-Symptoms:
-Flashbacks
-Avoidance
-Persistant feelings of arousal
-Alterations in mood

Dissociative Disorders
-Disturbances in the normally well-integrated continuum of consciousness, memory, identity, and perception
-Unconscious defense mechanism
-Protects individual against overwhelming anxiety
Dissociative Identity Disorder
-Primary personality (host) may or may not be aware of alters
-Alternate personality (alters) or sub personalities take control of behavior
-Alters often aware of each other
-Each alter thinks and behaves as a separate individual
-Each alter personality has its own memories, behavior patterns, and social relationships
Depersonalization/Derealization Disorder DSM V Criteria
-Symptoms cause clinically significant distress in client's life
-Disturbance is not attributed to substance use or explained by another mental disorder
-Reality testing remains intact
-Alteration in perception of self
-Feeling a sense of deadness of the body
-Seeing oneself from a distance
-Perceiving limbs to be larger or smaller than
normal
Depersonalization
Experiences of unreality, detachment, or being outside observer with respect to one's thoughts, feelings, sensations, body, or actions (e.g. absent from self, distorted sense of time, emotional or physical numbing.)
Derealization
Experiences of unreality or detachment with respect to surrounding (e.g. individuals or objects are experiences as unreal, dreamlike, foggy, lifeless, or visually distorted).
