Soccer Referee terms
Study, learn and master terms to describe the referee and linesman's actions. For example, goal kick, corner kick, throw in.

Referee holds Yellow card or Red card above head.
Referee points out both his arms without blowing his whistle. Generally, a soccer referee will give approximately 3 seconds advantage before blowing his whistle for a foul
Direct Free Kick
Referee points in the direction of the kick
Indirect Free Kick
Referee raises his hand until ball is kicked and touched by another player.
Referee points to a corner of the goal area from which kick is to be taken.
Goal Kick - Asst Ref
Assistant Referee points his flag at goal area from which kick is to be taken.
Referee points towards corner of the field from which kick is to be taken.
Corner Kick - Asst Ref
Assistant Referee points his flag at corner area from which kick is to be taken.
Referee points to penalty mark from which kick is to be taken.
Penalty Kick - Asst Ref
Assistant Referee holds his flag straight up. Once the center referee notices, the AR makes quick, small waves with the flag and then goes to stand in front of the corner flag on the goal line to indicate a penalty kick.
Assistant Referee signals to the referee by holding his flag overhead with both hands
Points in direction of attacking team that won the ball. (Which way the ball is going.)
Throw In - Asst Ref
Assistant Referee stops running, points the flag straight up, and then lowers the flag to a 45 degree angle in the direction of the throw.
Referee blows whistle and raises his arm straight up reflect the AR's call. Keep arm raised until ball is kicked and touched by another player.
Offside - Asst Ref
Assistant Referee points his flag straight up above his head to signal offside violation to the referee
After Assistant Referee signals offside, he then shows location of infraction by holding his flag out in front of him -- flag held low indicates infraction occurred at side of field nearest to him, middle = center of field, high = far side of the field.
Referee points towards the center circle -- the location of the next kickoff -- and moves to the position for the next kick off.
Goal - Asst Ref
Assistant Referee provides confirmation of a goal by sprinting up the touch line towards the halfway line -- enough of a sprint to be obvious -- and then positioning himself for the kickoff
