Continuity
Logical, linear and usually chronological from shot to shot. Editing techniques are so accepted that they are practically invisible. Ex: Hollywood Narrative style. Can have an ellipsis of time
Cutaway

Deductive Reasoning
We take in the big picture, clarifying the overall environment, and relationships between people and things within it. Then gradually, we focus on specifics within the environment, being drawn for various reasons to particular subjects.

Jump Cut
Breaks the rules of continuity.
Matched Cut
edit of two shots that matches one pint i the action from two different angles or shot sizess to create the sense of continuous action
Montage
Elicits an emotional response from the viewer. Can be fast-paced assembly of sound and image. Film art - meaning results from from contrasting and comparing content of adjacent shots.

Cuts should only occur when there is a reason to make them. So change shot size or POV to help the viewer understand whats important and give new information.
Reverse Angle
Establishes a mirror of 1st camera. Good for filming conversations.
Sound Bite
Pieces of interview
Verbally Driven Structure
Media pieces that deliver information, make an agreement, or tell a story through the words of a narrator, the voices of interview subjects, or a combination of the two. A thesis is logically presented and defended.
