Why are decomposers so important to the environment? What is their niche?
Decomposers are important to ecosystems because they break down and return nutrients like raw material back into the soil, so they can be used by green plants to make more food. Without decomposers the green plants will not have a supply of nutrition. The niche of a decomposer is that they eat and live by feeding on dying things or already decayed things such as plants and animals.

What is the difference in a food web and a food chain?
A food web is made up of interconnecting food chain. It shows the feeding relationship relationship among species in a community. It shows that organisms eat more than one kind of food.
What is the primary function of a decomposer?
Decomposers and scavengers break down dead plants and animals. They also break down the waste (poop) of other organisms. Decomposers are very important for any ecosystem. If they weren't in the ecosystem, the plants would not get essential nutrients, and dead matter and waste would pile up.
