Excretory System
The system that removes wastes from your body
Elimination
Getting rid of the undigested solid waste (poop) from body through large intestine
Excretion
Removal of cellular waste; the blood picks up waste from cells and it is sent to the kidneys and liver to be passed out of the body.
Kidneys
This primary excretion organ that filters blood. The waste product it excretes is liquid urine.(pee)
Nephron
This is a microscopic filtering unit located in the cortex of the kidney. There are about 1 million in each kidney.
Lungs
This primary excretion organ removes carbon dioxide from the body;
Skin
This primary excretion organ removes sweat; some water, salts and a small amount of urea.
Liver
This is a secondary organ of excretion because it does not excrete waste. It filters toxins out of the blood so the kidneys can excrete it.
Bladder
This organ is a part of the urinary system. It is a sac that collects and store urine.
Ureter
This structure is a part of the urinary system. It is two tubes that carry the urine from each kidney to the bladder.
Urethra
This structure is part of the urinary system. It is a tube that carries the urine from the bladder to outside of the body.
