What is a no tech aac?
Any method of communication that does not involve the use of any technology and uses readily available materials.
-ex: paper/pencil, real objects, alphabet board, eye gaze
What is a low tech aac?
Use of a fairly simple device containing few moving parts.
-One location voice output device- Big Mac Switch
What is mid tech aac?
Have some amount of electrical power (usually battery powered), speech generation ability, and limited programming options with the ability to store messages.
ex: Cheap Talk, Go Talk, 32- Location device
What is high tech aac?
Sophisticated electronic device that makes use of computer technology and requires considerable training for programming and use.
ex: Prentke Romich ACCENT 1000, Dynavoc T-10, Satillo Nova Chat
What are speech generating devices (SGDs)?
SGDs are electronic devices that offer speech output, have programming capabilities, and can provide the individual with a broader range of communication possibilities.
