Biophysical profile (BPP)
Profile consists of a group of five fetal assessments: fetal heart rate and reactivity (the NST), fetal breathing movements, fetal body movements, fetal tone (closure of the hand), and the volume of amniotic fluid (AFI).
Percutaneous umbilical blood sampling
Procedure serves to obtain a fetal blood sample from a placental vessel or from the umbilical cord; this may be used to give a blood transfusion to an anemic fetus.
AMNIOCENTESIS
is done at 15-17 weeks.
FLUID VOLUME DEFECITS have an increased HR and decreased cardiac output. SG OF URINE INCREASES AND SODIUM INCREASES, LEADING TO THICK CONCENTRATED BLOOD AND SCANTY CONCENTRATED URINE.
pituitary hormones secrete ADH which holds onto H20
adrenal glands secrete ALDOSTERONE which holds onto H20 and salt.
HYPEREMESIS GRAVIDARUM
thiamine is given prior to IV dextrose.
Wernickes is prevented with thiamine, which is a vitamin B1 depletion.
cerclage
suturing of the incompetent cervix after a possible recurrent abortion.
missed /incomplete abortions = septic risks
SHOCK S/S , besides septic.
urine decreased, thirsty, pulse fast and thready, cold, clammy, tachycardic, BP drops.
PLACENTS PREVIA
has no pain vs placenta abruptio
GH side effects
headache, dizziness, increased blood clotting risk, especially lower ext.
increasing MAGNESIUM.
can act like a sedative, monitor the v/s and for hypoactive.
Rh- mom with an Rh+ child
mom produces antibodies that attack the baby. RHOGAM AT 28WKS AND W/IN 72HRS OF DELIVERY
CHF during pregnancy
persistant cough, moist lung sounds due to back up into the lungs.
MONITOR THE LUNG SOUNDS.
TOXOPLASMOSIS
PARASITE from raw meat for cat feces.
HEPARIN IS SAFE. DOESNT CROSS PLACENTA BARRIER.
NO TETRACYCLINE, NO DILANTIN, NO RADIATION BEFORE 6WKS OF GESTATION.

engineering
Derive the following conversion factors: (a) Convert a volume flow rate in cubic inches per minute to cubic millimeters per minute. (b) Convert a volume flow rate in cubic meters per second to gallons per minute (gpm). (c) Convert a volume flow rate in liters per minute to gpm. (d) Convert a volume flow rate of air in standard cubic feet per minute (SCFM) to cubic meters per hour. A standard cubic foot of gas occupies one cubic foot at standard temperature and pressure (T = 15$^{\circ}$ C and p = 101.3 kPa absolute).
physics
The headlights of a car are $1.3 \mathrm{~m}$ apart. Determine the maximum distance at which the eye can resolve these two headlights. Take the pupil diameter to be $0.40 \mathrm{~cm}$.
computer science
Design a function that uses recursion to raise a number to a power. The function should accept two arguments: the number to be raised and the exponent. Assume that the exponent is a nonnegative integer.
physics
You throw a ball up with initial speed $\mathcal { v } _ { 1 }$, and when it reaches its high point at height, you throw another ball into the air with the same initial speed $\mathcal { v } _ { 1 }$. Will the two balls cross at half the height, more than half, or less than half? Explain.
