Cardiac glycoside. treats heart failure and atrial fibrillation/ flutter.improves myocardial contractility, reverses cardiogenic shock or other low cardiac output states. indications: heart failure, supraventricular dysrhythmias
digoxin immune fab, digibind, digifab
Cardiac glycoside. antidote for severe digoxin overdose. indicated for reversal of life threatening bradycardia, advanced heart attack, ventricular tachycardia or fibrillation, and severe hyperkalemia. works by binding to free (unbound) digoxin
milrinone, primacor
Phophodiesterase inhibitor. short term treatment of heart failure. referred to as inodilators because they exert both a positive inotropic effect and a vasodilatory effect. adverse effect: dysrhythmia
nesiritide, natrecor
Phophodiesterase inhibitor. is a synthetic hormone, similar to natriuretic peptide, has vasodilating effects on arteries and veins.
