Terms in this set (8)
What is the Law of Conservation of Momentum?
In a collision, when no other external forces act, momentum is conserved
What is an elastic collision?
Where the total energy of the system is the same before and after the collision
What is an inelastic collision?
Where some energy is transferred out of the system. eg as light or noise of heat
What is the mass of an object?
It is the amount of 'stuff' in an object
What is the weight of an object?
Weight is mass x gravitational field strength
What is the unit of Gravity force?
N - Newtons
What is the equation for calculating gravity force?
W = m x g
A chicken has a mass of 2Kg
Earth gravity = 10
Moon gravity = 1.7
What would the chicken weigh on each planet?
Earth 2 x 10 = 20N
Moon = 2 x 1.7 = 3.4N
