Normalisation
Maximising the range and precision of floating point binary values. Positive mantissas should start 01, negative mantissas should begin 10
Underflow
When the value is too small to be represented by the number of bits reserved for the data
Overflow
When the value is too large to be represented by the number of bits reserved for the data
Mantissa
