REASON: President William Taft proposed a 2% income tax on big business and corporations In 1909. Many people liked this idea, and this eventually led to the passage of this Amendment.

REASON: Created a new election system for the Senate, as the Senate was falling apart due to the fact that Senators were being elected by state legislatures.

REASON: In the late 1800s, many groups of people started making movements to make alcohol illegal, as they thought that the beverage would harm society. This Amendment was passed to help make them happy.

REASON: In the late 1800s, women began to change their public image. They started working, trying to serve in the war, and demanding more rights. This Amendment was passed to help make them happy.

REASON: This Amendment was passed to help in stopping candidates from entering the "lame duck" period so that government operations could continue without delay after the elections.

REASON: Before this Amendment, presidents could serve as long as they wanted. (E.g. FDR served for four terms during the Great Depression and World War II). In the late 1900s, people began to question this. This Amendment was created to specify the length of Presidential terms. (However, there are a few loopholes to this).

REASON: Although DC has no official representatives, people living there started demanding that they should also be able to vote normally.

REASON: It turns out that the 18th Amendment actually made things worse. The economy went berserk as many restaurants and corporations were running out of business because of the 18th amendment. This Amendment repealed the 18th Amendment.

REASON: This Amendment was created in order to abolish a major loophole in the 15th Amendment.

REASON: This Amendment was created merely to define an order of succession if the Vice President were to be unable to do his job.

REASON: Was made in result of the 1970 case "Oregon v. Mitchell". This was also a result of a movement to try to lower the voting age.

REASON: This amendment was originally proposed in 1789 by James Madison, along with the Bill of Rights. It was, at first, rejected. The 27th amendment itself prevents representatives from the house of representatives from having salary increases until after the elections.
