What is a font ?
a font is a specific size and variation on on a typeface.
What is a baseline ?
The line that the typography sits on is called a baseline.
What is a counter ?
The white shapes inside the letter.
What is a serif ?
The stroke that projects off the main stroke of the letter at the bottom or the top.
What is a x-height ?
The height of the body of a lowercase letter like x or a. It does not include ascender or descender.
What is a ascender ?
The part of the lowercase letter that rises above the body of the letter. The letter e has no ascender, but the letter "b" does.
What is a descender ?
The part of the lowercase letter that falls below the body of the letter. The letters a b c d e have no descenders, but the letter "g" do
What is a type size ?
Type size is the height of a type character measured in points, each points being 1/12th of an inch.
What is a typeface ?
Typeface is the style of lettering and numbers in a particular design used in printing or on a computer screen
What is a stress ?
Stress is the distribuition of weight through the thinnest part of the letter form.
What is an alignment ?
Alignment is an arrangement of text in which when two or more things are positioned in a straight line to parallel to each other.
What is leading ?
Leading is the vertical space between lines of type.
