List each micromolecule and common dietary source for each
1. Protein > Meats
2. Lipids > Butter/ Oil
3. Carbohydrates > Glucose
4. Nucleic Acid > DNA and RNA
Give the Chemical formula of the micromolecules in the body
Identify the functions of the marcomolecules in the body
Protein > Hair, Blood, Skin, Bones, Antibodies, Enzymes, and Hormones
Lipids > Store energy, cell membrance and signaling molecules.
Carbonhydrates > Sugar is burned in cellar resperation and used for energy
Nucleic Acids > DNA- Stores genetic genes RNA- carries info copied from DNA to grow more of the body.
Explain two possiable negative health impacts of a diet that is to high in carbonhydrates?
1. Diabetes > To much sugar is in the blood
2. High Blood Pressure
Explain what diabetes is and use evidence to make a claim about who is to blame for the epidemic.
Diabetes is when the body has to much or to less amount of sugar in it (Insulin) too high of blood pressure.
Define and give examples of trans fats
Hydrogen > Adding hydrogen will turn unsaturated foods into saturated fats. It builds bad cholestrol and lowers good cholestrole.
Explain two negative health impacts of a diet that is too high or too low in proteins
1. Gain weight- Doesn't give energy, but gives fat
2. The body loses calcium
Explain the functions of DNA
DNA stores an organisum genetic material in the nucle, it replicates itself when dividing and it gives instructions when making proteins in the body
Draw a diagram of a nucleotide, label all parts.
Phosphates---- Sugar----- Nitrogen base
Saturated fatty acid
Unsaturated fatty acid
