Renewable energy sources
A resource which is not diminished when it is used; it recurs and cannot be exhausted (for example wind and tidal energy).
Sustainable energy supply
Energy that can potentially be used well into the future without harming future generations.
Energy conservation
Reducing energy consumption through using less energy and becoming more efficient in using existing energy sources.
Carbon footprint
the total amount of greenhouse gases produced to directly and indirectly support human activities, usually expressed in equivalent tons of carbon dioxide (CO2)
have high carbon footprints
A substance that reduces the transfer of thermal energy, often found in walls, lofts and under floorboards in houses to save energy
EU energy ratings
energy efficiency of electrical goods are rated in terms of a set of energy efficiency classes from A to G on the label, A being the most energy efficient, G the least efficient
A condition in which the an electrical good is on but not operating, not good for energy conservation
Combined heat and power (CHP)
The use of a heat engine or power station to generate electricity and useful heat at the same time.
Energy Education
teaches people about energy, conservation and sustainability.
