OPTIC NERVE
Sensory neurones that connect the eye to the brain
SCLERA
Tough white outer layer that protects the eye
CORNEA
Transparent layer at the front of the eye that refracts light.
PUPIL
Dark hole at the front, centre of the eye
LENS
Elastic disk, that changes shape to allow fine focusing of light
IRIS
Coloured radial and circular muscles that control the size of the pupil
RETINA
Red photosensitive layer at the back of the eye; contains rods and cones.
CHOROID
Dark layer behind the retina that absorbs light stopping it from reflecting
HUMORS: AQUEOUS
Maintains the shape of the front of the eye
HUMORS: VITREOUS
Maintains the shape of the main sphere of the eye
SUSPENSORY LIGAMENTS
Connects/anchors the lens to the ciliary muscles
CILIARY MUSCLES
Contracts and relaxes to change the thickness and curve of the lens
