Condensation Nuclei
Small particles that water droplets can condense on and form clouds. Example nuclei: dust, salt, smoke.
Frontal Wedging
A lift mechanism that occurs when a warm air is forced up over the colder air mass, often causing cloud formation.
Latent Heat
The energy absorbed or released by a substance during a phase change.
Cumulonimbus clouds
Tall "thunderhead" storm clouds.
Evaporation
Phase change as a substance changes from a liquid to a gas. It requires and absorbs heat energy .
Water Cycle
The continual movement (cycle) of water between the Earth's surface and the atmosphere through evaporation, condensation, and precipitation.
