Elevation above sea level
the distance north or south of the equator measured in degrees (looks like a ladder along the globe)
0 degrees latitude; an imaginary line around the middle of the earth which separates the earth into the northern and southern hemispheres
extending in the same direction, equidistant at all points, and never crossing
The actual location of where the lines of latitude and longitude meet; "True North". An imaginary point on Earth's surface marking an axis point around which the planet rotates.
The distance east or west of the prime meridian measured in degrees (runs through the north and south pole)
A line of longitude that runs north-south. All lines of longitude are equal in length and intersect at the poles.
An imaginary line passing through the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, England, which marks the 0° line of longitude; separates the earth into the eastern and western hemispheres
