Definition: Pain that lasts during the time of healing
There is a known causative factor or etiology
it is well localized and defined
pain will last as long as the noxious stimuli persists
pain that lasts beyond the time of healing
activation of abnormal neurological responses
pain continues after noxious stimuli ceases
associated with physical, psychological, social dysfunction
experience pain in one area with the injury in another area
can refer joint to joint
can refer from a peripheral nerve to its distal innervation
