The life and dignity of the human person
ALL human life, from conception to natural death is sacred and our God-given dignity "calls society to ensure that the goods of the earth are distributed in just and charitable ways to every person in the world and to eliminate sinful inequalities."
call to family, community, and participation
Marriage and family are the foundation of our human communities and therefore needs to be supported by society. We all have the responsibility to work for the common good and provide for the poor and vulnerable.
Rights and responsibilities
we all have a right to life and basic "necessities" such as food, shelter, clothing, education/work, health care, and freedom of speech/ religion.
the preferential option for the poor and vulnerable
we are obligated to prioritize the needs of the poor and vulnerable and societies must work to reduce the inequalities between the wealthy and the poor and must provide just distribution of the earth's goods.
the dignity of work and the rights of workers
"economies exist to serve people" therefore everyone has the right to fair working conditions so that they can contribute to society and support themselves/families.
humans are interconnected, regardless of physical location, united as God's children to live in "peace, love and reconciliation."
care for God's creation
stewardship of the earth and its resources "can no longer be left to a future generation"
being deceptive or intentionally misleading
