Title
the name of a book, poem, picture, piece of music or the like.
Heading
a title or caption of a page, chapter, etc.
Subheading
a title or heading of a subdivision, as in a chapter, essay, or newspaper article.
Illustrations
something that illustrates, as a picture ina book or magazine.
Captions
a title or explanation for a picture or illustration, exp. in a magazine.
Charts
a sheet exhibiting information in a tabular form.
Graphs
a diagram representing a system of connections or interrelations among two or more things by a number of distinctive dots, lines, bars, etc.
Bold-faced print
type or print that has thick, heavy lines, used for emphasis, headings, etc.
Italics
a style of printing in which the letters slope to the right. Used for emphasis
Author
the person that wrote the book.
Illustrator
the person that draws the pictures in a book.
Publisher
the person/company that prints and publishes books, magazines, etc.
Table of Contents
a list of division (chapters/articles) and the pages on which they start.
Appendix
supplementary material at the end of a book, article, document or other text. Usually of an explanatory, statistical or bibliographic nature.
Glossary
a list of specialized words with their definitions.
Index
a sequential arrangement of materials, exp. in alphabetical or numerical order.
Text
the main body of matter in a manuscript, book, newspaper, etc.
Title Page
the page at the beginning of a book that lists the title of the book, author, publisher, etc.
Dictionary
a reference book containing an alphabetical list of information. Usually includes meaning, pronunciation, and etymelogy.
Glossary
a list of specialized words with their definitions.
Guide Words
a word printed at the top of a page in a dictionary.
Thesaurus
a dictionary of synonyms and anonyms.
Atlas
a bound collection of maps.
Almanac
an annual reference book of useful and interesting facts relating to countries of the world, sports, entertainment, etc.
Encyclopedia
a book or a set of books containing articles on avarious topics, usually in ABC arrangement of all aspects of a subject.
Footnotes
an explanatory or documenting note or comment at the bottom of a page, referring to a specific part of the text on the page.
Diagrams
a figure, usually consisting of a line drawing, made to accompany and illustrate a geometrical theorm, mathmatical demonstration, etc.
Maps
a representation, usually on a flat surface, as of the features of an area of the earth or a portion of the heavens, showing them in their respective forms, sizes, and relationships according to some convention of representation.
