white blood cells that eat pathogens
What is a systemic inflammatory response?
a widespread inflammatory response (all throughout the body)
What is a non-specific line of defense?
a defense mechanism that doesn't identify/recognize different types of pathogens as anything but foreign and has one type of defense for every pathogen
What are fevers caused by? What do fevers do? How come high fevers are dangerous?
general infection; they slow down the reproduction of a virus; because they can denature important proteins in the body
What does the Lymphatic system consist of?
a branching network of vessels, many lymph nodes, bone marrow, tonsils, spleen, appendix, thymus, and adenoids
