Water Vapor Science
Investigation 3 water vapor
Terms in this set (17)
Change from a gas to a liquid
The process in which liquid water becomes water vapor. Water vaporizes from the surfaces of oceans and lakes, from the surface of the land, and from melts in snow fields.
The gas state of water, Water in the form of a gas, as in steam or moisture in the atmosphere
hydrogen bonds form between the hydrogen atoms of one molecule and the oxygen molecules of other water molecules
A state of matter that has a definite volume but no definite shape.
A state of matter with no definite shape or volume
A form of matter that has a definite shape and volume
Containing the highest amount of substance
The measurement of the outer surface of an object.
The temperature at which a liquid changes into a solid
what happens when liquid evaporates?
wet materials become dry
where is water vapor found?
when liquid water changes into water vapor it moves into the air.
what makes water evaporate slower and faster?
warm temperatures make water evaporate faster and cool temperatures make water evaporate slower. The large the surface area of water volumes the faster the water evaporates.
What happens when water vapor touches a cool surface?
when water vapor in the air touches a cool surface, it condenses on the surface or changes from gas to liquid.
What happens when water condenses on surfaces that are below waters freezing point?
When water condenses on surfaces that are below the freezing point for water the water freezes to form frost.
