Input, Processing, and Output.
What is Input?
When the user puts data into the computer (using devices such as mouse, keyboard, and touch screens)
What is Processing?
When the OS tells the hardware inside a computer what to do.
What is Output?
When the computer shows the results of your input (usually through the monitor or speakers).
What does the Central Processing Unit (CPU) do?
Handles most of the processing tasks of a computer.
What are the additional stages of the Computing Process?
Data Storage and Network Connection.
What is Data Storage?
Saving a permanent copy of your work.
What is Network Connection?
The means by which a computer connects to one or more other computers/devices.
What are the steps of the computer process?
1. Power up.
2. Processing parts prepare for action.
3. Provide input.
4. Command is processed.
5. Processing parts send output.
6. Output device shows results.
7. repeat 3-6.
8. Save work.
9. Turn off computer.
What are the Common Operating System Functions?
Communicates with hardware, Creates a UI, Allows user to determine available programs, Allows user to edit programs and data, and Provides a way to secure the system from threats.
