Enthalpy
is the measure of heat energy in a chemical system
Exothermic
heat is given off, the surroundings gain energy so a increase in temperature. The chemical system looses energy hence why it is negative.
Endothermic
the surroundings loose energy and so the temperature decreases. The enthaply change in positive because the chemical system gains energy.
Activation Energy
it is the minimum energy needed for particles to collide and start a reaction
Standard Conditions
pressure of 100 kPa
temperature of 298k
Enthalpy Change Equation
products-reactants
Exothermic is a bond....
being created and is negative because heat is lost to the environment
Endothermic is a bond....
being broken and is positive because heat is absorbed from the environment
