The Orion Module Engine service loads all modules and their plugins one at a time and no polling can occur if it is not running. The Information Service must also be running for plugins to start.
Where do the Job Scheduler and Job Engine services live, and what are they used for?
Job Scheduler - main poller only - tells Job Engine to go poll something.
Job Engine - all pollers. Has Worker processes. Writes info about each job to its DB. The Workers check that db file to find out what they are supposed to do and work accordingly. That DB can get corrupted, and can be cleared out.
Describe the 3 types of Orion deployments (Centralized and two types of Distributed)
Centralized - One main server/instance with APEs that call back to one central DB

Locally Distributed - one Orion server with APEs in multiple regions

Distributed - Separate instances that (optionally) are fed back to one EOC instance
What happens to polling when a Polling Engine is above 100% utilization? What can be done to fix the issue?
Polling Engine will automatically increase polling intervals to poll less frequently.

To fix, add an APE, remove unneeded elements, or increase polling frequencies on less important elements.

What are the two types of Additional Web Server deployments and when are they used?
Local - installed near the Primary Web server for number of concurrent users

Remote - used for regional/geographic purposes or for DMZ/port-closed type environments
What happens when a Poller loses connectivity to the database?
It will store data up to 1GB and 1 hour, discarding oldest data when these limits are met to make room for new data, and will write what data it has when the connection is restored.
