1. What interests you most about this position?
I am looking for a job where I can develop my current interests in writing into a career. I am interested in the Content Specialist position in particular because it combines what I love about my job at the Wisconsin review--writing,editing, and communicating with my team and clients to get the best possible end result--with the opportunity to write content on blogs and social media, an important part of a company's advertising.
2. In your opinion, what are the most important writing skills?
I think one of the most important writing skills is the ability to switch your style and tone according to your target audience. For example, in college I would use a different style in a creative writing class versus a professional writing class. I would choose the tone of my piece based on what I was trying to achieve.
3. How do you handle deadlines?
I always make sure to get quality work done on time. My organizational and time-management skills are a huge part of how I succeeded academically while working two part time jobs and participating in my chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, an international English society.
4. Are you familiar with SEO? Google Analytics?
While I have not worked with SEO or Google Analytics before, I am confident that I can pick up these skills quickly. I do understand the basic function of SEO, and I believe I can learn to use Google Analytics in order to improve my writing and the search-ability of my content.
5. What kind of experience do you have with customer interfacing on social media outlets?
At The Wisconsin Review I use social media outlets such as Submittable to interact with potential clients and customers. As the president of my chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, I used Facebook to advertise events to faculty and students. I have knowledge of both of these websites, as well as Tumblr, Twitter, Intstagram, Snapchat, and Reddit. As a consumer myself, I have knowledge of what makes a web page alluring. I personally love sites that offer the ability to learn something or give my own opinion, and I think interaction is key to getting consumers to remember and revisit
Why are you good for us?
I think I am a good fit for the content specialist position for two reasons: first my education and job experience are directly related to writing and I have excelled at both, which is demonstrated by my final GPA and my promotion within The Wi review; and second, being younger actually gives me the advantage of growing up with technology and picking up new technology quickly.
Have you ever bought a car from a dealership?
I have never purchased a car from a dealership. While I do not have that experience, I have used online sites to see the worth of a car or look at details about a model of car, and so I still have the experience of interacting with car dealership sites and related sites. I think a fast website with easy to use interactions for learning is key to holding my interest for longer.
If we asked your spouse what about you drives him crazy what would he say?
Well I'm not sure what he would say specifically, but I think that my biggest weakness for some is that I am a little quiet or introverted. But while I may not be the most talkative person, I do not believe that I am shy or afraid to speak up when it is important.
Alternatively. My spouse thinks that I am naive and too trusting. However the fact that I always see the best in people can actually be an advantage in some situations. For instance, working customer service jobs, I never assumed that people were trying to be mean to me or do anything personal against me.
How do you handle angry upset customers?
I tend to be a very easy person to get along with, which has prevented me from having angry customers for the most part. However, I think anyone mad at the WI review is angry because of a lack of communication that went on before the review changed hands and I was hired. It was important to let people know that I understood where they were coming from and that me and my team were working to fix the problem. Then we had to prove it by keeping them up-to-date with our process and reply back quickly and thoroughly.
What do you know about Dealersocket?
I know that Dealersocket is a leading automotive technology platform, meaning that your company uses a variety of technology to improve the profitibility of dealerships. Dealersocket was founded in 2001 and now serves eleven thousand dealership.
